Over the years, Mike and I have seen a lot of the same struggles going on with coaches in all kinds of niches. These mistakes, hurdles, and traps bring even the greatest coaches to the brink of bankruptcy, and I don’t want to see that happen to you…

You have an important message, talents, and unique gifts the world needs (plus, we want to see you make craploads of money and live more awesome)…

So today, I’d like to share with you the 5 reasons even the best coaches go broke (so you don’t):

1. They talk about themselves too much.

Hey, you’re great. I know it. You know it. All your friends and family know it.

But your potential clients don’t just want to hear all about your amazing achievements, your work history, your educational background, etc., etc.

If you want to get more leads (and ultimately increase your revenue), instead of losing clients to the competition, this is super important to remember while crafting the copy for your website’s home page or a landing page.

When prospective clients hit your landing page or website, they have 1 question, and only 1 question on their mind:

“What are YOU going to do for ME?”

If you miss this and just make your website a billboard about your life, no matter how awesome you really are, you’re not going to convert those visitors into paying customers… and you’re not going to grow your business.

You have a very short amount of time to capture visitors and turn them into leads…

Like 15 seconds… maybe.

If you’re not filling their mind with all the ways your service benefits them directly, they’re gonna bounce. And they’re probably not coming back.

So be sure to focus your landing page copy on the big, juicy benefits that get visitors to stick to your page and want to learn more.

Once you capture a visitor, you’ll have plenty of time to tell them about yourself and build a relationship. But keep it all about what’s in it for them first and foremost.

2. They spend all their money on “magic potions”Spending-Money

This is a huge money-trap for anyone getting into an online business.  If you haven’t already fallen for the quick fixes, tactics, and gimmicks being pitched by Internet marketing hacks, let this be a warning:

Don’t fall for jackwagon “gurus” promising overnight riches.

Unfortunately, anybody these days can get online and call themselves a “guru” and promise how they’re going to double your business overnight.

The reality is, you’re going to end up spending yourself broke on their untested, unproven marketing “secrets” that turn out to be a load of hype.

I hate to burst your bubble, but there’s no ‘magic formula’ to growing your business.

And successful people are not drawn to “secrets” or “new” shiny things.

They follow a pattern of proven results.

If you want to experience time and financial freedom…

If you want to get clarity about how to actually grow a scalable and sustainable business…

And if you want to get long-term results…

Then stop bouncing around and chasing the next “new”, hot, or “secret” formula from some no-experience-having jackwagon “guru” (see reason #3 for a smarter alternative).

  1. They don’t create repeatable SYSTEMS for effortlessly marketing and selling their services.

Why did you start your coaching business in the first place?

If you’re like most coaches we’ve worked with, you want to help others and make money doing it, right?

But unfortunately, you’re only helping a fraction of the people (and earning a fraction of the money) that you could be

While you might still be struggling to get a list of 100 email subscribers, you wouldn’t believe the number of coaches we’ve worked with who already have lists with several thousand subscribers that they’re not making a dime off of.

One of the main reasons for this is because they don’t know how to make offers.

Here’s what I mean:

When they’re building their list, they come up with some great “freebies” to give away and get leads.

That’s smart.

But then they make this HUGE mistake:

When they send out the first email that follows up with their “freebie,” they don’t make an offer.

If you’re not making an offer immediately after getting that prospect onto your email list, you’re leaving money on the table. It’s as simple as that.

Let me explain why:

When that person signed up to get your free offer, they were seeking you out for a solution. They straight up want you to offer them your help. Don’t be afraid to help them!

If you have another (paid) solution that is super congruent to the free thing you just gave them, then tell them about it!

Don’t wait until the 3rd, 4th, or 5th email…

Don’t just keep sending them free stuff first…

Give them your offer immediately before they find a solution elsewhere.

Otherwise, you’re just going to be building an email list of “freebie seekers” who aren’t going to pay you a dime anyway.

  1. They don’t use Facebook ads the right way.

Too many coaches dive into paid Facebook ad campaigns without knowing how to use Facebook ads the right way.

A lot of the common makes are:

  • They don’t know how to use Facebook targeting to get the best leads.
  • They don’t know their numbers (how much each lead is worth or how much each lead cost).
  • They don’t track ad performance.

While Facebook ads are huge for the success of your online marketing efforts, you’ve got to use them the right way.

Otherwise, you’re going to end up spending yourself broke on ads that don’t give you a good ROI.
